Couchsurfing in Santa Barbara...

Hello friends,
Jule and I left Vegas and stayed at my friend Rachel's house overnight before heading up to Santa Barbara.  Jule found someone to host us in Santa Barbara through CouchSurfing.

Our host Wes took us to an Irish pub in Santa Barbara

Our CouchSurfing host, Wes

Wes shared many stories of his travels through South America on his motorcycle!  So cool.

fish and chips

We went for a game of pool

Our host Wes, actually lives on a ranch in a converted barn/ stable.  Many years ago, animals were actually kept here.  It was quite a unique accommodation.  The stable was converted with a 2 bedroom and 1 bath living area.

Being that this was once a stable, it was still extremely cold at night.

We decided to put on some hats to keep warm.

In the morning we headed to Santa Ynez to visit some local wineries.

Kalyra is a winery owned by an Australian but was trained in California grapes for over 20 years.

We had a wine tasting flight of 3 reds and 3 whites for $10.

These giant barrels are filled with wine.  Open wide!

After the wineries, we headed to the cute danish town of Solvang.
