Phuket marks its 6 year anniversary since the Tsunami!!

It's hard to believe that on December 26th,  it has been 6 years since the Tsunami hit Phuket.  Watch what happened 6 years ago in this exact same place that I am standing in right now!

In Thailand, the six provinces -- Phang-nga, Krabi, Phuket, Ranong, Trang and Satun -- were hit by the unprecedented tsunami, with over 5,395 local residents as well as Thai and foreign holidaymakers losing their lives in the tidal waves. Over eight thousand were affected here -- 8,457 were injured and 2,995 went missing in the giant wave disaster.

Following a report on tsunami victim autopsies and identifications, the dead were 1,899 Thais, 1,953 foreigners and 1,543 persons who remain unidentified their nationalities.

The remains of tsunami victims who remain unidentified after the six years are retained at a cemetery in Phang-nga. (MCOT online news)
