Jaipur, the capital and the largest city of Rajasthan, India is known as "The Pink City". In 1856, when the Prince of Wales came to visit, the Maharajara Sawai Ram Singh ordered that the entire city was to be painted pink to welcome the prince. Today, most of the old city and avenues are still painted in pink.
This is the first planned city of India. The street planning, and the architectural design was advanced for it's time.
